The Little Shoebox Theater is a mix of both stop motion and CG animation. This usually means shooting our stop motion characters over green screen for composition with digital backgrounds. Our little characters (usually 8:1 or 10:1 scale) tend to use very light weight paper and wire armatures which are very flexible and also considerably quicker to make than the ball and socket variety. We often animate the facial features of our characters in the tracking/compositing software used after shooting our main action. The magic of stop motion animation combined with environments we could never fit in our little garage is something that we find irresistible.
